Annual Fund – Final Report

Congratulations Montlake!

Thanks to all your contributions, the Annual Fund raised $86,559!! We will continue to accept donations and process those corporate matches as they come in. We are all so very grateful to those who participated. Thank you again for supporting your school and community. Our students will really benefit from your generosity!

In pizza party news, Ms. Johnson has won the final party! Thank you to class Marshall, Emily, Parker, and Stump for your amazing participation!

Thank you Montlake!

Holiday Gifts for Montlake Teachers & Staff
As we move into the holiday season, we have set up a way for the Montlake community to contribute to holiday gifts for the entire Montlake staff!
In the past, the community has very generously collected funds within each classroom and purchased gifts for the classroom teachers. We want to offer an option that will create funds that can be divided equally for the entire staff. If you would like to contribute, please follow the link below.
Please donate BY WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13th. It takes a few days to process the gifts so it will be difficult to take late donations.
The Outreach team will then purchase gift cards with the funds and distribute them the last day of school before Winter Break.
For those who prefer to donate by check, a donation box will be in the Montlake front office starting on Monday, December 4th.
Thanks for your help in making the staff feel super appreciated!

Take Action!

Montlake families, consider sending your own version of this to Rep. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal:

Dear Representative Jayapal,

As a Seattle Public School Librarian, I oppose Chairman Pai’s plans to dismantle net neutrality.

“Net neutrality is the principle that internet service providers (ISPs) must enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source and without favoring or blocking specific services or websites” (Washington Library Association 2017). School and Public Librarians rely on this principle in order to provide all patrons with seamless access to information.

“Strong, enforceable net neutrality rules, like the one Chairman Pai plans to dismantle, are critical to the functioning of modern libraries because we rely on the internet to collect, create and disseminate essential online information and services to the public” (Washington Library Association 2017). Dismantling these rules will create an dangerous environment where information could be censored at the whim of the ISP.

This threatens the core principles about information sharing on which the internet has thrived. Please do everything in your power to stop and reverse this disturbing plan!
